The Launch

The official research program for "Skin White Serum" was launched on 3 January 2000 by a group of specialized clinical researchers headed by Dr B.J Jenson (PhD), a leading figure in the dermatology research field in Canada. Dr Jenson was appointed as the Head Researcher at Skin White Research Laboratory on 29 December 1999.

The Aim

Research for "Skin White Serum" was undertaken with the aim of creating a skin lightening product that helps users to attain fair and flawless skin, and remove dark pigmentation, without using any chemical bleaching agents such as Hydroquinone, which may cause skin irritations that might result in oedema, erythema and desquamation.

The Process
Analysis of the differences in racial pigmentation

Skin color is a function of the size, number and distribution of melanosomes. The differences in racial skin pigmentation depend upon the quantity of melanin produced and upon the distribution and desposition of melanosomes throughout the epidermis. Tyrosinase is the rate-limiting enzyme for melanin synthesis, and defects in the enzyme's activity can lead to albinism in humans. Melanocytes derived from dark skin have up to 10 times more activity and produce up to 10 times more melanin than melanocytes in fair skin. In dark skin, melanin persists within the horny layer and leaves the skin by natural desquamation. In fair skin, the pigment is degraded in the granular layer, probably by the skin's own enzyrnatic process, this means that the stratum corneum of white skin does not contain any melanin.

Selection of skin whitening ingredients

The research team undertook an extremely stringent selection process for the skin whitening base ingredients. Criteria considerations consist of the following:

1. Ingredients that increase keratinocyte turnover would assist indirectly in melanin removal

2. Compounds that exert a cytotoxic effect on melanocytes would participate directly depigmentation

3. Agents that inhibits melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH or melanotropin) has proven skin lightening effects

A series of scientific experiments was carried out by the research team before the final active ingredients for the formulation of "Skin White Serum" were decided upon and the clinical prescription being developed upon.

The development of a breakthrough product

After 6 months of continuous research and experimentations, "Skin White Serum" was officially launched as the principal skin whitening product of Skin White Research Laboratory on 30 July 2000.

Clinical tests
6 May 2000

A patch test was carried out, "Skin White Serum" is applied on skin-patch on the volunteers' arms, at x number of times per day, for a continuous period of 30 days. Observations for any signs of skin irritations or skin reddening were carried out by Dr Jenson and his group of researchers.

Results: No signs of skin irritations or skin reddening occur at the end of the test.

1 July 2000

Two drops of "Skin White Serum" is applied on skin-patch on the volunteers' left arms, at x number of times per day, for a continuous period of 30 days. Two drops of Hydroquinones and Kojic Acid 99% concentrated solution was applied on skin-patch on the right arms of the volunteers, at x number of times per day, for a continuous period of 30 days.

Results: "Skin White Serum" gives a more visible skin lightening result in comparison with the Hydroquinones and Kojic Acid 99% concentrated solution. No skin irritations or skin reddening was visible on the left arm, but visible red blotches were visible on the right arms.
